This collection of articles Gender, Media and Mass Culture is based on the papers of two conferences initiated and organised by the Center for Equality Advancement (Vilnius). The first conference Gender and Cinema (2003) examined the ways of constructing sexual identity and representations of gender in the cinematic tradition; the second conference Gender and Pop Culture (2004) focused on the images and stereotypes of gender in popular and mass culture.
