The Centre of Equality Advancement initiated an action to declare March 8 as the Day of Consideration and Enactment of Laws Important to Women by the Lithuanian Parliament. The goal of this would be to revive the tradition of citizen’s participation in an independent Lithuania and to express a strong political action to solve important fender equality issues. Towards this goal, the Centre issued a booklet with statistics that confirmed that the ratio of women- men positions in government institutions related with decision- making is 1:10. The Centre encouraged the Lithuanian Parliament to pay more attention to the fact that the social political breach creates the tendency to ignore women’s experience in government life.
The discussion was sponsored by Parliamentarian M.A. Pavilioniene.
